Dusk safaris are a wonderful chance to see foxes and owls. Groups of fallow and red deer, longhorn cows and Exmoor ponies wander down to ponds and lakes for an evening drink.
We’ll head out into the Wildland in our open-sided Austrian Pinzgauer, with plenty of stops at sites of interest for a brief walk around.
Using echo-locators we’ll identify some of Knepp’s 13 species of bats as they fly out to feed over the water-meadows.
Frogs, insects and, in May, nightingales give voice as night falls, producing an exotic, almost equatorial sound. An elevated walkway across the river gives a stunning vantage-point from which to view geese and duck returning for the night.
The safari winds up with a glass of wine and a last chance to soak in the lovely sounds of evening from one of our signature tree-platforms or our tree-hide overlooking the lake.
