Kingfisher Safaris

led by David Plummer

Kingfishers are one of the most beautiful of the UK’s birds but usually seen only as a blue flash along a pond or river. David Plummer has unique knowledge of Knepp’s kingfisher population having photographed and studied them for the last three years.

After a short presentation over a cup of tea and homemade brownies, David will drive you out into the rewilding project in our Austrian Pinzgauer open-sided safari vehicle for a tour of kingfisher habitat and territories. He will then introduce you to a specially-situated hide where, with a little patience and luck, you’re very likely to be rewarded with close sighting of a kingfisher.

Kingfisher Safari

This is a vehicular safari with stops to get out at sites of interest so there may be a little walking on uneven ground, ascending a flight of steps to a tree platform, plus getting in and out of the back of the Pinzgauer vehicle which has one step.

Please note that this is not a photographic safari. This safari is simply for the quiet observation of kingfishers and cameras will not be permitted inside this hide. If you’d like to photograph kingfishers, which will be using a different set-up, please book in with David here
