Bring your own
Our 'Pitch Your Own' campsite has a limited number of pitches so you never feel part of the crowd. Situated in a stunning wildflower meadow on the edge of an ancient wood, and surrounded by 3,500 acres of the Knepp rewilding project, this is real wildlife camping.
Each pitch (maximum two tents and four people) has its own upcycled fire-pit and barbeque grill . Local, sustainable charcoal, firewood, kindling, eco-firelighters, long matches and log candles can be bought at the Go-Down, along with our amazing Knepp Wild Range longhorn and venison sausages, steaks and burgers, and organic wine, beer and cider.
There are three beautifully built compost loos and a hot water outdoor rain-shower on site, as well as two hot water open air baths. Campers are also welcome to use the luxury mains showers and flushing loos a short walk away in the Go-Down.
The 'Pitch Up' is our on-site, off-grid camp kitchen, ideal for wet weather or relaxing out of the sun. With solar lighting, solar charging station for laptops and mobiles, funky tables and chairs, and an upcycled wood-burning stove, this is beach life in the countryside – the perfect place to enjoy a sundowner listening to birdsong.
We believe that a real camping experience involves darkness and no light pollution. For this reason the campsite is not lit at night. We advise you to bring torches and take care around steps. We don’t allow anybody to drive on the wildflower camping meadow; for this reason we cannot accept campervans. The car park is around a 30 second walk from the camping area and we provide large wheelbarrows to help you move your belongings.
"Lovely huge field to choose where to pitch your tent with a 'honest box' system shop for any forgotten essentials or treats. Only my second camping experience and the atmosphere was fantastic. Would definitely recommend. Fires, countryside, quiet and wildlife with trendy and creative amenities."
