safaris
Our expert safari guides take you into the heart of the Knepp Wildland Project, 3,500 acres of stunning natural habitat, heaving with wildlife.
Safaris are either vehicle-based in an open-sided Austrian Pinzgauer or guided on foot. On a walking safari you’ll need a level of fitness that enables you to walk at a gentle pace on uneven ground for 2-3 hours. On vehicle safaris there will be plenty of opportunities to stop at sites of interest and walk around. On receiving your booking we’ll send you further details of where to meet and what to bring.
Our 12+ Policy
Knepp Wildland Safaris are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature and are therefore unsuitable for children under 12.

When to come
April and May are best for the dawn chorus.
Late April–early May sees the arrival of cuckoos, nightingales, and turtle doves.
Early summer onwards is best for seeing beetles, reptiles and birds in general.
Mid-summer for Bat & Moth, Dusk, and Purple Emperor Safaris, and for seeing butterflies and other pollinating insects in large numbers.
Mid-end October is the deer rut.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds or date changes for poor weather. Safaris will continue through all conditions unless Met Office warnings stipulate it is unsafe to do so.

Free Guided Tours
Every year we put on around 20 free guided tours for schools and interest groups.
